Bug Description

aspire 7736g.....10.04 installed and ran no probs......10.10 just installed and ran no probs.......just playing around with appearance in compiz fusion and lost window borders and gained a crosshair pointer. Trying to figure out which mistake I have made by uninstalling windows managers that I have introduced. Using Tweak to access some features...when boom, I get the automated error message upon selecting compiz settings

Which window manager did you uninstall?

Tualatrix,

I found I hade uninstalled Compiz completely, when I reinstalled it
Tweak was ok............but..................I had still had lost the
window border including max/min/close buttons. Reinstalled Gtk and
emerald and regained the borders. Restart......no borders. Reinstalled
fusion , using fusion restarted manager and borders reappeared. Closed
down completely and restarted....no borders......so into fusion and
restart windows manager, hey presto borders back.

So, inettiquette-ly, I have reinstalled 10.10 and alls well, except grub
failed to pick up Win7 (first time it's failed and I've made at least 10
installs of 9.04 through 10.10). Am now trawling the forums trying to
find the answer. I'm sure it will be there, it's just time. Only use
Win7 for our small business accounts (MS Office Accounts (discontinued))
but quite good really. May decide to just virtualize and run the
accounts from within Ubuntu, but still it is quite useful to have
Win7/XP(my favorite) present as I can't get my daughter onto
Ubuntu.......yet.

Many thanks for your contact. If I fail on the Win7 problem I will
address the forum,

kind regards,

Tim
