Bug Description

Waiting for meta services at http://169.254.169.254/2009-04-04/meta-data/instance-id with url error [timed out].

On new install i used the Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud (instance) from Tasksel. The first reboot give me no problem. But after installing eucalyptus-* (not nc) with Taksel, every boot give me the url error.

Pinging to 169.254.169.254 give 100% data loss

Hi,

Thanks for the report.

Are you installing the -nc on the same server as the rest of the cloud?

Hello,

Yes, i have first installed (with tasksel) the -nc on the same server as the rest of the cloud. On reboot, got the url error. Then removed eucalyptus-nc and reboot. The same error.

Hello,

Again a new install. But this time only selected the Basic Ubuntu server in Tasksel. After fast reboot. Installed Cloud computing: Walrus storage service, cluster-, storage- and top-level cloud controller with Tasksel again. A second fast reboot. No problems.

Hello,

The ip-addres 169.254.169.254 for metadata service is now found in the ifconfig. I think this is done by some registrations in the cloud.

So, i think: you must register something (Walrus or Cluster) before reboot, when eucalyptus-nc is installed on the same server.

Could someone confirm this!
