Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

It was a little unclear from the original bug report; does /var/www exist on this installation? I've not been able to re-produce the same error unless this directory is actually completely missing or is a file.

Looking at the list of installed php packages it would appear that you are running this alongside Apache - please could you confirm whether this is the case.
