Firefox reports crash while doing nothing, doesn't close

Bug Description

Firefox version: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20060601 Firefox/2.0 (Ubuntu-edgy)

Ubuntu version: 6.10

this is a weird problem, I got a message that Firefox crashed but it didn't shut down. Instead this web page opened in a new tab after the crash report was collected.

What version of firefox and which distro version? Could you attach the crash report? Also, what were you doing when it crashed?
