Bug Description

I was able to successfully build (and run) the latest gaim (1:2.0.0+beta5-6ubuntu1) from feisty for edgy using prevu.

It should be backported to edgy because edgy is running an earlier beta.

At this point, yes, I am willing to research and consider a gaim backport more closely. The extensions are the main roadblock, which ones need backporting, which ones won't backport ,etc. But I've also been running a gaim prevued from feisty or sid for a month or so now.

Since there's already a request to backport Gaim from Feisty, I should add that there are some weird bugs resolved in Gaim 2.0.0 beta5 that now are a bit annoying in Edgy (Gaim 2.0.0 beta3).

Please, see bug #71848 (and duplicates) plus upstream bug:

gaim b5 runs fine
builds/installs/runs
prevu
so a big +1
i bet the crashing is do to the plugins also being built
thare is please build gaim thread here and dapper with similer probs
but i suspect bishiboosh if you build all your gaim-plugins you should elimate the crashing

I tried to recompile the plugins, launch without it and it crashed...But I admit my case is maybe not the one of the mass.

However, as there seems to be some more users that are experimenting this problem, I would suggest no to backport it until everything is correctly fixed.
