Bug Description

When I try to open a .mov video or any other video file using Firefox and Totem-Xine, the system will automatically log me out. No idea where this is coming from but it´s a bug that you can recreated over and over again.

Maybe dupe of: bug 85112

Thanks for your bug report. Could you please install firefox-dbg and try to obtain a backtrace (or crash report) by following the instructions on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingFirefox This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

Which flash package do you have installed?
Which Java package do you have installed?
Which firefox extensions do you have installed?

Thanks
David

Hello David!

Thanks for your response!

First of all here is my list of things that I have installed as
requested in your email:

Firefox Plugins:

MediaPlayerConnectivity 0.8.3
Flashblock 1.5.2
VideDownloader 1.1.1
Adblock Plus 0.7.2.2

Firefox Themes:

Firefox Default Theme
Human Theme
Tangerine Theme
Tango Theme

Language Packs:

DE and GB Language Pack

other packages:

Flash 9.0.21.78.2.ubuntu1-edgy1
Java j2re1.4

I have tried to run some web videos with some firefox plugins
deactivated and it kinda worked. My system is no longer logging me out
when I open a .mov file from within firefox after deactivating
MediaPlayerConnectivity. However I now get an error message saying

"Totem could not play
'file:///home/amir/.mozilla/firefox/4nbbopws.default/Cache/299CBC27d01'.
You do not have a decoder installed to handle this file. You might need
to install the necessary plugins."

Strangely, even though the message says I don´t have the plugin
installed, I can still watch the videos without any further problems.

I also tried to use firefox-dbg but I am afraid I am not sure on how to
use it. I am getting better with my GNU/Linux system everyday. However
in some fields I am still a great noob.

Thanks for helping out here...

Amir

Amir,

Thanks for installing -dbg. If you get a crash report in the future we will have more information to go on.

can you still reproduce your crash? Can you please run

 firefox -g 2>&1 | tee /tmp/firefox.log

 (gdb) quit

and attach /tmp/firefox.log here?
