some notifications appear over the panel

Bug Description

I removed my upper panel, so I placed my notification area in the bottom one. Now many apps show their notifications on the bottom-right corner... and over the panel, keeping me from seeing or reaching it.

Here you can see how gaim notifications appear: http://img184.imageshack.us/img184/7915/pantallazoam6.png

An how they SHOULD appear: http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/3825/pantallazo1zz8.png

Deluge's notifications appear on the wrong place too: http://img183.imageshack.us/img183/378/pantallazo2cq9.png

And these are just some examples.

Thank you for your bug. What version of Ubuntu do you use and what window manager?

I guess these errors are caused by applications, not by libnotify. The apps seems to be handling popup position in a wrong way.

BTW, i have gaim-libnotify here in my pc exactly like yours. And my notification area is on the top, like default installation.

If my guess is correct, we should reject this bug, and open others in each package, right?

Changelog entry of notification-daemon 0.3.6:

    * Added a GConf key to allow users to specify which corner of the screen notifications should appear in. Patch by M.S. (Ticket #57)

It's already in feisty.

Changed in libnotify:

Thanks John. Guess the patch doesn't make notifications take the panel's presence into account, right?

I'm afraid I have neglected to file bugs for the apps, I will try to start doing so.
