[HP z600] Suspend is unable to resume

Bug Description
After placing the system into suspend mode, resuming will only beep multiple times and show a blank screen. This occurs with the default nouveau driver, nvidia-173, and nvida-common (this system has a nVidia Quadro 600 installed). Issue occurs with stock 10.04.2 image and with -updates installed.

using -proposed also result in a blank screen, and a virtual console is not accessible via Crtl+Alt+F1. The caps lock led does not blink.
