Binary package hint: linux-generic

In Feisty, linux-generic package points to the 2.6.19 kernel image, modules, etc. but there is version 2.6.20 available in the repository.

You should wait the time for the repository to be refreshed, and the kernel developers wait always the time for the kernels and their modules to be available in the repos before publishing the linux meta packages, to avoid breakages. I saw the "linux-meta" 2.6.20-1 in the feisty changes list, so it may be updated soon. Marked it as "Fix commited", waiting the repos upgrade.

OK, but the nvidia-glx package's version in the repo is 1.0.9631+2.6.20.1-2, so everyone who upgrades to Feisty before the repo is refreshed, and has a NVIDIA grafic chip, is going to encounter X server failure.

If you install (or upgrade) nvidia-glx, it depends on the linux-restricted-modules-common package, so it should work, no ?

I don't know, it didn't work for me. When I upgraded from Edgy to Feisty, it couldn't start X. I had to boot with previous kernel version and install new 2.6.20 kernel. Now it works.

This was only a passing issue while packages were being built and updated. It's a development release, expect it.
