Bug Description

I was helping a user, trying to make a usb wifi dongle work:
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 050d:1102 Belkin Components

The usb uses the driver rtl8192cu (not rtl8192ce), which is supported by linux wireless:
http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/rtl819x

I have looked at kernel mainline builds and natty linux image (through packages.ubuntu.com), but I did not see the driver included. Is this a bug or not included for a reason?

natty's kernel is based on 2.6.38 - but rtl8192cu was merged for 2.6.39, which is still in development. The 2.6.39-rc mainline builds probably haven't picked it up yet because they are still being built with the natty kconfig.

Well, I guess it doesn't count as a bug for ubuntu official packages then. Thank you for the clarification! :)

@Savvas, please try the latest Oneiric which should have supported your usb wifi dongle with rtl8192cu inside.
