Bug Description

In natty there is no obvious way in configuring the tapping on my eeePC with Elantech Touchpad. I install gpointing-device-settings to no avail.
As the tapping is two fingers right, three middle I consider this a show stopper.
Please add user configuration for the tapping.

I agree, Unity uses three finger tap to move windows, leaving out a basic function from any pointing device, that is the middle click simulation by taping with three fingers, all the users with multitouch devices like Apple Magic Trackpad or in this case the eeepc need some way to assign another combination to the default behavior of gestures in Unity. I need to middle click for:

1. Close tabs in firefox
2. Open links in new tabs in firefox
3. Paste selected text
4. Open a directory in a tab in nautilus
5. Midle Tap and drag in firefox via the multilinks extension to copy multiple links simultaneously

Please we need help with this.

In rubengs' case that is bug #754000 (three finger CLICKING, not tapping).

Johannes original bug description seems to refer to regular tapping, which is a gesture that Unity uses and is not the same thing as 3-finger clicking on a (Apple) clickpad. Therefore this bug is not a duplicate of #754000.

Could you check in mouse preferences to see if the "Touchpad" tab shows up? I would like to know if the touchpad is properly recognized.

In Oneiric on my eeepc, three fingers tapping doesn't work, and double tap to drag and drop doesn't work.
Two fingers scroll works fine.
