Bug Description

Binary package hint: kcontrol

My monitor, Samsung SyncMaster 763MB, is capable of displaying 1024x768@85Hz. However, I find that running at that high of a refresh rate makes the center of the moitor blurry a difficult to view for long periods of time. In the last version of Kubuntu I used, breezy badger, I simply changed the refresh rate to 60Hz using Kcontrol. Now that I have upgraded to Edgy Eft, I can no longer use Kcontrol to change the refresh rate, the only option I have is 85Hz.

I have reconfigured xserver-xorg a number of times, sometimes using advanced monitor settings so I can set the frequency of the monitor, sometimes using the medium monitor setup so I just set the resolution and refresh rate. Nothing seems to fix the problem once I enter KDE.

Please tell me if there is a solution or workaround to this. If there is anything I can do to help just ask.

Thanks for your bug report. Could you run the command 'sudo xresprobe videodriver' where videodriver is the X driver (probably nv or nvidia) you are using and add the information to your bug report?

The hardware tab is split into three sections:

Graphics Card: nv
Driver: nvidia

Monitor #1: Custom1

Monitor #2: <unknown>

I have attached a screenshot to make this more clear.

Thanks.

Displayconfig is unmaintained and nonexistent in Intrepid, so this won't be fixed.
