It is working correctly for me.

For example, for my GMail account I have set the 'Send Messages folder' (in the Account editor) to 'GMail/[Gmail]/Sent Mail' and the sent emails all are stored in that folder.

So could you provide some more information about your (account) settings, so we can sort this out?

An additional note: I have made similar changes to the settings of my exchange account and it works as well

Of course I have set my "sent" folder in IMAP account setting correctly.

The problem is, then after sending e-mail, sometimes is the message stored correctly in sent folder of IMAP account and sometimes I get error message, that Evolution can't store the message there and stores the message in local "sent" folder instead.

I can move it manually to IMAPs sent folder, but it makes me crazy ...

I can't find any determinicity of that. In Evolution are many buggies - e.g. it sometimes from nothing begins to report, it cant connect to IMAP server and wants to type password, and again, and again,... It helps only to restart it, .............

Thanks for your reply. Unfortuately we do not have enough information to work on this bug.
At a minimum we need:
- the actual error message when storing the send message in the IMAP account fails
- the log file recorded when the error occurred (to generate the log file start evolution from a terminal using evolution --debug=~/evo.log)

Hopefully this will result in a better understanding of the problem.

As an addition on my previous comment: in order to get more/useful log information about the IMAP server communication, please start evolution using: env CAMEL_VERBOSE_DEBUG=1 evolution >& ~/evo.log

Also, it might be a solution to update to a newer version of evolution, the natty repositories provide version 2.32.2. Maybe this will fix your problem..?

Oops... that should have been

env CAMEL_DEBUG=all evolution >& ~/evo.log

I have just send 2 test emails - but with success.

I will test it more times and if the problem occurs, I will report.

Thank You

I think this looks like an intermittent problem. It would be great if you kept on logging and I'm confident you'll run back into what you were seeing earlier at some point. Please get back in touch with Veger, then.

Could this be related to the quality of the net connection? Are you ever on an unreliable or overloaded connection?

If evolution for some reason cannot contact the IMAP folder the reasonable fallback is to save locally. That would not be a bug but a feature as I'm sure you will agree. Let's see what your logs will say.

Hello,

I could finally catch the error when trying to send email from IMAP account.
The mail is send ok, but storing to "Sent" folder in this account.

In difference as I wrote above - now has failed also manual moving of this message from local-send to this IMAP-send folder.

The requested env CAMEL_DEBUG=all evolution >& ~/evo.log output is in attachment.

Thanks

Thanks to the bug report I figured out what I had to do. I didn't know that I had to change the setting in accounts to use imap folders instead of local. This was one a few things I didn't like about Evolution but now it's working. I don't know why the defaults are to use locla folders when you setup an imap emaill account you obviously want to keep mail on the server. There are severl settings that I have to remember to change with Evolution when fresh installing but I love the program. Even better that Thunderbird.
