[nvidia-glx] nvidia proprietary driver defaults to 800x600 resolution

Bug Description

I've got problem with the nvidia proprietary driver from packages and also from the nvidia site. Low resolution 800x600.

I'm using Feisty and the latest nvidia driver.

Thanks for your report! Can you list some additional details about your system, for example, the output of "lspci -v". What video card do you have?

There's few threads with similar issues floating around ubuntuforums.org. Have you tried using Option "UseEDID" "0" in your /etc/X11/xorg.conf ?

Does using nv to find the appropriate refresh ranges then explictly adding them to xorg.conf as described in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-restricted-modules-2.6.20/+bug/91292/comments/6 help?

Please attach your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and /var/log/Xorg.0.log. There is a possibility that rather than be a nvidia issue, this could simply be another case of bug 3731.
