Bug Description

Binary package hint: usplash

On powerpc with a ppc64-smp kernel, I have taken off 'quiet' but left on 'splash'. The text on the screen scrolls up over top of the progress bar. When the progress bar repaints, it overwrites that top part of the text.

I can confirm this bug on Kubuntu Feisty. However the behavior is a bit different. The boot message text is located in the middle of the screen and overlaps with the progress bar. This causes multiple progress bars to appear and scroll with the text

Thanks for this bug report and for your contribution to ubuntu. I tried to reproduce this issue with ubuntu hardy alpha 4 and everything works as expected. Can you confirm if you can reproduce this issue on gutsy or hardy alpha?

Because I can't reproduce this bug with PPC machine with the latest Hardy release and that we have no comment from the initial bug reporter since a while, I set the status to fix released, but please feel free to set back the status to confirmed if you can still reproduce that bug with latest Hardy. Thanks to everybody who contributed to this bug report.
