Bug Description

Binary package hint: gaim

On a system start/login, gaim crashed before even opening a window. I tried valiantly to collect debugging symbols in this crash but apport is really misbehaving.

Thank you for your bug. Does it happen every time? Only on login? The crash file has no coredump nor backtrace, did you attach the stripped version of the crash to the bug?

I would not say every time no, just this particular time logging in.

As for the crash report, as I said in my original comment, I tried to get a decent crash out of apport but it was crashing too. I filed a bug on that at the same time.

could you try to get a backtrace for that problem?

Sorry, not really, not right now any way. It doesn't seem to happen every time and I don't really have time to be logging out and in a few times and then have to set up my desktop to be productively working again.

Funny, though, I'm sure this has happened since I first filed that bug and have not gotten a good crash dump from it. Is there something wrong with apport and startup crashes or something?

closing for now then, feel free to reopen if you get the problem again and can provide a new crash file. Did you attach the reduced version of the crash file or the complete one? Installing gaim-gdb would probably be useful to get an useful backtrace
