Bug Description

Until yesterdy morning I had a working wlan configuration.

Important!!!

It must be an hardware detection problem. Since yesterday 09-01-2007 ubuntu-386 edgy can't detect wlan-stick(s) anymore. Any other (mouse, memory-stick) is working in top condition.

Has there been an update, which could have caused this?

Ndisgtk says no hardware present on another notebook, tee. Under winxp the stick runs instantly.

Digitus DN-7003GC
Ndiswrapper
Installed drivers:
sis163u driver installed
modprobe config already contains alias directive

lsusb
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 ........................

cat /proc/bus/usb/devices
everything is fine, but no wlan-stick found

The wlan-stick is test and working with win xp.
both USB-Ports 1.1 are working with other devices.
under Ubuntu the LED of the stick doesn't start blinking
under System>networking>I can only chose to enable modem and Ethernet

Ethernet works well.

clear install on the sony notebook pcg-fx505. only ndiswrapper 1.8 and drivers installed. no success. lsusb shows nothing.

on my hp nx9105 the stick is running. since yesterday. lsusb shows the stick.

big difference sony nb has the generic kernel. the hp nb uses the 2.6.17-10-386 kernel.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include enough information.

Please include the following additional information, if you have not already done so (please pay attention to lspci's additional options), as required by the Ubuntu Kernel Team:
1. Please include the output of the command "uname -a" in your next response. It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version you're running, as well as the CPU architecture.
2. Please run the command "dmesg > dmesg.log" and attach the resulting file "dmesg.log" to this bug report.
3. Please run the command "lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log" and attach the resulting file "lspci-vvnn.log" to this bug report.

For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel-related bug reports is available here: <http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelProblems> Thanks!

tested it again. Problem gone with the latest updates.
I didn't see that, because I changed the computer connection to a cable connection.

Thank you.
