you don't have to attach the .crash file, you need to double click on it or execute it using the 'ubuntu-bug _usr_bin_compiz.1000.crash' command to report a new bug using the appropriate method for crashes.

Changed in unity:
status: New → Invalid
Changed in unity (Ubuntu):

Hi. I am experiencing same problem and want to post report.
My /var/crash is empty,
$ cat /etc/default/apport
 # set this to 0 to disable apport, or to 1 to enable it
 # you can temporarily override this with
 # sudo service apport start force_start=1
 enabled=1

I tried:
$ sudo service apport start force_start=1
and got:
Warning: Fake initctl called, doing nothing.

How can I enable crash-reports?
