Binary package hint: eog

When trying to open http://ian.rave.org/~icorne/earthFull.png
on my laptop with 4gb ram on 11.10 I get a very high memory usage.
When I open the same file on natty, it only uses 1gb ram.

sorry not duplicating because you say it uses only 1GB on Natty but swaps on Oneiric, so that's a regression. Setting to triage/medium.

this seems to be a libgtk/gdkpixbuf issue, gimp is also showing the same behavior, lets reassign and send upstream, thanks for the file and log Ian.

Same here.
When i open this file:

in firefox.. everything is fine.. if is opened with shotwell everything fine... but if i open with eye of gnome system freezes - actually you can hardly move the mouse but you cant click nothing.. you cant even go into terminal.

But with small images is no problem.

I have Ubuntu 11.10 64_bit version.
