Bug Description

This occured with my Dell Latitude D600 in a docking station. Perhaps this also applies to regular Computers. When the monitor isn't connected on boot-up or is switched off the resolution of the desktop is set to 800x600.

I don't know if this is a bug or not, but a workaround is to simply restart X (Ctrl-Alt-Backspace) once you have switched the monitor on. When X restarts, it will use the higher resolution ... at least that is how it works for me.

Can you reproduce this still with Ubuntu Feisty or Gutsy?
