Thank you for your bug. You picked the wrong day to try upgrading, the new gnome-panel didn't build yet due to the python2.5 transition, things like that happen on an unstable distribution, that's not a bug

Thank you for the fast answer. I periodically upgraded my system to the
development versions of Ubuntu (Hoary > Dapper > Edgy) without
re-installation and I never experienced any serious problem with
dist-upgrade (good days for upgrade). I am sorry for wasting your time.

no problem, the upgrade will probably be working again on monday
