Binary package hint: kde-devel

try installing apt-install kde-devel on kubuntu edgy

I am not able to install kde-devel through apt-get install kde-devel. I am getting the following error.

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
kde-devel: Depends: kdesdk (>= 4:3.4.3) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: kdelibs4-dev (>= 4:3.4.3) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: kdebase-dev (>= 4:3.4.3) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libkonq4-dev (>= 4:3.4.3) but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Unfortunately, we are
not able to fix and find the bug because your description of the bug
didn't have enough information in it.

Please provide us the error log when you try to install those four packages, because this issue in most likely to come from those packages

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
kdelibs4-dev: Depends: libxml2-dev but it is not going to be installed
Depends: libxslt1-dev but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

I included libxml2-dev and libxslt1-dev and then following dependencies are not met.

sudo apt-get install kde-devel kdesdk kdelibs4-dev kdebase-dev libkonq4-dev libxml2-dev libxslt1-dev

The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  libxml2-dev: Depends: libxml2 (= 2.6.26.dfsg-2ubuntu4) but 2.6.27.dfsg-1 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

the last line i.e. libxml2-dev is the issue. as it is dependent on 2.6.26. It should be updated to 2.6.27.

Let me know which error log to upload. will Upload the same.

The version for both libxml2 and libxml2-dev for edgy is 2.26.dfsg-2ubuntu4.
You should try to downgrade to this version in synaptic or whatever you use, and then try to re-install

I am also having this problem. I am trying to install (compile) the latest version of kpilot to fix the sync problems present in the current Ubuntu repository version. To do this, I need the kde-devel package installed.

I get this output when attempting to install the package:
-------------------------------------------------------
$ sudo apt-get install kde-devel

requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
kde-devel: Depends: kdesdk (>= 4:3.4.3) but it is not going to be installed

I have attached my current Sources.list file.

Thanks for your bugreport.

Please run:
$ sudo apt-get install kde-devel -o Debug::pkgProblemResolver=true -o Debug::pkgDepCache::AutoInstall=true

and attach the output here?

Thanks,
 Michael
