Bug Description

Binary package hint: gramps

The Edit Person window stays in front of the main Gramps window, but doesn't block it. It has a close button, but no others. It is listed in the window list.
When I minimize Gramps, the Edit Person window stays present.
This is incorrect -- it should either follow the main window, or be properly independent with its own controls.

Not reproduceable in gramps 2.2.4 -- minimzing the main Gramps window also minimizes the Edit Person window.

Thanks for your bug.

Do you always have the behaviour you describe?

Yes.

This is a Kubuntu issue, and is due to q bug with the kdm window manager in combination with python-GTK-GLADE. In GNOME all works fine. Changing your window manager to gdm makes this behaviour disappear.

It is therefore not a GRAMPS bug, and has been discussed on the GRAMPS mailing lists in the past. No upstream bug has been posted to KDE however because a small testcase could not be created.

I am using Ubuntu, with all the standard settings, so my window manager is whatever Ubuntu provides with GNOME.

Joachim, you should upgrade to 2.2.6, it is in edgy backports: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gramps/2.2.6-1ubuntu1~edgy1

If you still see this issue, file a bug on bugs.gramps-project.org with this.
