Bug Description
Binary package hint: xserver-
After connecting and configuring my lenovo thinkvision screen via the display port, the machine does not fully shut down, it exits the DE, drops to the plymouth shoutdown screen and flickers between the external and internal screens. (the machine is a HP probook 5320m laptop). I have left it this way for ~15-20 mins with out successfully shutting down. I have it configured to only display on the external screen when inside the DE.

Testing showed that 2.6.39-rc4 fixed this. There is a set of patches that are being backported to the natty kernel.
