Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-main-menu

Hi

in gnome 2.17.5 the control center has been replaced with some code from this applet, but when you install this applet it also installs the previous copy of the control center. Since those changes went upstream (gnome-control-center) I think it would be wise to ditch it's internal copy and make it launch the control center provided by stock gnome.

thanks

This is currently broken in feisty as the gnome-main-menu packaged control-center is broken.

It can be fixed by modifying the .desktop entry.

Indeed. The simple patch is to go to /usr/share/gnome-main-menu/control-center.desktop and change Exec= to point to /usr/bin/gnome-control-center instead of /usr/lib/gnome-main-menu/control-center

Want a patch for that?

It would be nice, but I assume upstream (suse dev's) will correct this for their next release. Maybe it's worth tracking upstream changes in gnome bugzillla (item gnome-main-menu) since it's not very likely that debian will fix this until they release etch
