Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

I saw compiz 0.3.6 just appeared in the Feisty repository so I upgraded, and I can no longer get the cube to display, either by dragging windows to the edges or by pressing Ctrl-Alt-(Left or right arrow), i.e. I'm stuck on a single viewport.

The cube worked fine in compiz 0.3.4 and if I downgrade from 0.3.6 to 0.3.4, it works again.

I'm running Feisty on an AMD64 laptop with an ATI Radeon Xpress 200M card with fglrx drivers.

Thank you for your bug. The number of viewport has been changed to 1 that might be due to that or plugins list doesn't list "cube", Nicolas do you know what has to be changed for people who want to use the cube?

The last compiz packages uses the workspaces by default like metacity. To use the cube you must set the number of workspace to 1:

gconftool -s --type int /apps/compiz/general/screen0/options/number_of_desktops 1

then you should add cube and rotate plugins :

gconftool -s --type list --list-type string /apps/compiz/general/allscreens/options/active_plugins [gconf,png,svg,decoration,wobbly,fade,minimize,move,resize,cube,switcher,annotate,screenshot,scale,place,inotify,dbus,keybinding,rotate]

and to finish set the number of viewport :

gconftool -s --type int /apps/compiz/general/screen0/options/hsize 4

when gnome-compiz-manager will be revued and added to universe :P, you'll can set "cube and rotation" in workspace page.

not a bug, the settings have been tweaking to make the workspaces coherent with the standard GNOME
