Ubuntu 7.04 Installer crashes after step 4 of 7

Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

After step 4 of 7 of the Ubuntu Installer, it looks like the graphic driver crashes. My screen to the middle third of the screen and looks like TV snow.

I have a NVidia 6600 card running on an AMD Athlon based machine.

Could you please attach /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman to this bug, following the directions in http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUbiquity/AttachingLogs? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I misread the report. Could you please try ctrl+alt+f2 and then ctrl+alt+f7 to see if that fixes the problem?

Thanks for your report. This is also bug 73955, since fixed (well,
worked around, anyway). As you observe, switching away from X and back is a workaround. Oh, and sorry for my hasty first reponse - we get so many "installer crashed" bugs with no log files attached that requesting the logfiles has become almost an automatic action :-)
