Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

We'd be grateful if you could provide a more complete description of the problem, as I did log into the website you mention but the controls work fine for me (on the first page on that site, I clicked on "Operating System" and I can select any OS in the list without problems). I'm using Firefox 5.0 on Ubuntu 11.04 just like you are.

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

It would also be helpful if you indicate which other browser you tried this with, so we can also check to confirm the correct behavior.

Thanks!

Good morning,

here are the steps:
1- went to http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010783.asp
2- clicked on "select OS" and select a language". The behavior expected is to have a list and to be able to scroll and select the Operating system and the language.
3- behavior encountered: on both button no list appeared so i am unable to select the OS and the language.

I have firefox 5.0 under Ubuntu 11.04.

I copy/paste the message I have from the error console (sorry it's in french...):
------
Erreur d'analyse de la valeur pour "cursor". Déclaration abandonnée.
http://software.canon-europe.com/new_styles.css
-----
when I click on the link I have those lines highlighted:

div.worldmap , div.worldmap1 a:hover
{
    cursor:hand;
}

I tried this with chromium (12.0.742.112 (90304) Ubuntu 11.04) and it worked fine.

Hope it helps.

Hi Damien,

Thanks for the steps to reproduce, they mahe things very clear.

I'm still unable to reproduce the behavior you see :(

I tried this on a fresh Ubuntu 11.04 install, on which I updated Firefox to version 5.0. I installed all the french language support files to have an environment as close to yours as possible.

Still, when I access the page you mention, I get both selection menus correctly, as can be seen in these screenshots:

http://people.canonical.com/~roadmr/os.png
http://people.canonical.com/~roadmr/lang.png

Is this what you expected to get?

Could you delete Firefox's cache and try loading the page again?

If the page still loads incorrectly, you could save the page (use the File -> Save Page As option in Firefox), then zip and attach here *only* the .html file (all the graphical elements are not needed). This way we could see if the HTML code you're getting sent is correct. However based on my results I suspect that you may have received bad HTML from the site and your browser may have kept it cached.

Please let me know what your results are.

Thanks!

Hi,

I did
sudo apt-get remove --purge firefox
and
sudo apt-get install firefox

(I also clear the history to be sure).

I expect the two pictures you sent but and nothing has changed :-(

Here his the HTML page attached

Thanks Damien,

I looked at the html code you sent and it looks good to me. It does look different from what I get if I access the page through my browser, but none of the differences I think would account for the misbehavior you're seeing.

Micahg suggested you could create a new, empty profile (including new settings and cache) and trying to access the page using that profile.

So I would appreciate if you could follow the instructions here to create a new profile just for testing this:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs#Try_with_a_new_profile

Once you are in a new, clean profile, try accessing the site again and let me know if it works better this time.

Hi,

I did what you said and restart with a clean profile (even if I did not add any theme, maybe I have set an incorrect option...).

Everything is now correct and I have what I expect ie: scrolling those two menu!
So many thanks for your time & help

Have a nice day

Damien

Hi Damien,

I'll close this bug report then, as it doesn't seem to be a problem with Firefox proper.

However one thing I can suggest if you'd like to be able to use your original profile, is to disable all your addons and re-enable one at a time to test which one might be giving trouble. Also, please try clearing the Firefox cache, by going to Edit -> Preferences, then the Advanced tab and press the "Clear now" button under the "offline storage" section. Maybe this will also help clear up the issue.

Thanks for your report and good luck!
