Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdegraphics

Hello.

I don't know what the policy is with placing menu entries in the KDE menu within different categories. In my understanding, however, PDF files usually are what you might call "documents", in that they usually contain both text and images. As such, they are generally accessed because of the information they contain, not for instance because we want to reproduce or edit a certain image - there are certainly better formats for images available.

With this rationale, I think a more suitable category for the KPDF menu entry would be "Office Applications" instead of "Graphics", even if KPDF is part of the kdegraphics -package.

If this has already been changed after Kubuntu Dapper / KDE 3.5.5, this report is unnecessary and can be closed.

I too think the Office-category would be more suitable for KPDF. Most other PDF-viewers included (installable through apt) in (K)Ubuntu is also located in the Office-category.

I agree with that. KPDF should be placed in the menu Office. Furthermore, Acrobat Reader is placed in the menu Office, so, any new user, if he has installed both readers, he will find Acrobat first and probably he never will use KPDF.
Cheers.
