Bug Description

I have installed nVidia drivers 97.46 from the nVidia website and everything works fine in that session (3D accelaration, nvidia-settings) but if i restart my computer X won't load with a error:

"Error: API mismatch: the NVIDIA kernel module has the version 1.0-7184 but this X module has the version 1.0-9746. Please make sure that the kernel module and all NVIDIA driver components have the same version."

Then if i build the nVidia kernel module again it will work for that session but if i restart the problem happens again.

I have my system up to date and my graphics card is a Geforce Go 7300. But this also happens in my desktop with a Geforce 6800LE card.

Hi Luis.

If you have installed the drivers from the nVidia website, you should send a bug report to them, as Ubuntu can't do nothing with it.

Also, if you want, you can install the nVidia drivers from the Ubuntu repositories (they are the same ones, but supported by Ubuntu, because have some changes to work properly in the system).

Thanks
Pochu
