Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.17

Asus WL-167G USB wireless stick with RT73 isn't recognized by Ubuntu 6.10.

I guess the device IDs are missing in the rt2x00 driver code.

From the Asus linux driver instructions (legacy driver):
---------------------------------------------------
For rt73, please add ASUS IDs (red words) in the rtmp_def.h.
#define RT73_USB_DEVICES { \
...
 {USB_DEVICE(0x0B05,0x1723)}, /* ASUS */ \
 {USB_DEVICE(0x0B05,0x1724)}, /* ASUS */ \
...
---------------------------------------------------

The Asus WL-167G can contain multiple different chipsets:

From the Asus linux driver instructions (legacy driver):
---------------------------------------------------
 Vendor id predicted driver directory
 0B05 1706 rt25USB
 0B05 1707 rt25USB
 0B05 1723 rt73
 0B05 1724 rt73
---------------------------------------------------

The one I have is:
# lsusb
Bus 005 Device 003: ID 0b05:1723 ASUSTek Computer, Inc.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are currently reviewing bug reports regarding older kernels. After review we feel this bug does not meet the criteria for a stable release update and are marking this as "Won't Fix". For more information regarding stable release updates, please refer to: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates .

However, your device should work with the 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon release of Ubuntu. I encourage you to please download and try the new version of Ubuntu from http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download . Thanks!
