I can confirm that version 1.6.5.git20061014.ac1-1ubuntu4 does not work with my Intel DG965WH motherboard either. However, I grabbed the current version of the modesetting driver from freedesktop.org git per https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8706
which got the display working, but with a bad resolution.

I applied the patch mentioned here https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9680 and I now have working a 1680x1050 display.

I would assume that this package will be updated to the newer driver before the Feisty Fawn release.

Kyle, if we're going to maintain xserver-xorg-video-intel in the archive, can we nuke this one that's migrated in from Debian?

I'm running with the amd64 architecture so it won't install for me. Or
at least it doesn't want to. Should I try to force it? Or can you put
together a amd64 build?

Erik, the new -intel driver is in feisty, and it works fine with my 965 since it hit feisty. If it still doesn't work, please reopen. If you have other issues please file new bugs.
