Bug Description

Binary package hint: tracker

According to the release notes, among the new features are:

• Indexing at ludicrous speed - massively optimised indexing so its now 10× faster than previous version. Indexing speeds are now around 100 text files per second (which is about the maximum possible considering the I/O time to read 100 files from a hard drive).

• Index while you work – now scheduled even better so it should never slow the system down whilst allowing users to work without being affected by or even noticing it.

The upstream package also contains a plugin for deskbar-applet.

tracker (0.5.4-0ubuntu1) feisty; urgency=low

  * New upstream release.
    - Also contains a plugin for deskbar-applet.
  * Added debian/watch.

The upstream tarball is at http://www.gnome.org/~jamiemcc/tracker/tracker-0.5.4.tar.gz and a proposed diff.gz is attached.

The copyright info in the plugin is somewhat vague. It doesn't contain a year and doesn't specify the GPL version. The author should probably be contacted.

• Updated debian/copyright.
• Moved python-central to Build-Depends-Indep.
• Increased the maximum number of results listed by libdeskbar-tracker from 2 to 10.
• Made libdeskbar-tracker's dependencies on tracker and tracker-search-tool non-versioned.
• Added missing dependencies to libdeskbar-tracker: python-dbus, python-gnome2, python-gobject.
• tracker Recommends: untex.
• tracker-search-tool Recommends: xdg-utils.

Emilio,

could we coordinate the upload somehow? I'm going to upload 0.5.4-1 to Debian unstable with the patch that Johan created (well, after changing the upload target from feisty to unstable of course) anyway. Could you grab the Debian package instead of uploading a -0ubuntu1 version?
I think we should avoid to have a -1 and -0ubuntu1 version, which are basically identical.
