Bug Description

Binary package hint: gmediaserver

gmediastreamer-0.11.0-1. Installed with apt-get in kubuntu 6.10. Working fine when launched at the command prompt. Upon running /etc/init.d/gmediaserver start, the service does not get started. Copied the start line out of the init script and ran it at a prompt. It reported that the user nobody.nogroup could not be found. Changed this to nobody:nogroup in the command and the command then executed correctly, but the daemon still hand't started. The command exited with 0. Removed the start-stop-daemon and its associated params so that the command began at $DAEMON. Init script then launched gmediaserver correctly.

Thanks for submitting this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better.

I can confirm that under hardy gmediaserver does not start after calling /etc/init.d/gmediaserver start, even there is no error message shown.

Changed in gmediaserver:
status: New → Confirmed
importance: Undecided → Medium
