Could you please install libglib2.0-0-dbg package in order to obtain a verbose backtrace?
What were you doing when crash happened?

Same here, only crashes for me the first time X-chat is launch. Work fine afterwards.

Version 2.8.0-0ubuntu4~edgy1 has been backported to Edgy recently. Could you please try to reproduce this behaviour with such version? Thank you.
