Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Is this a controlled-shutdown (eg. ~15 seconds) or an instant cold poweroff (~3seconds)?

It's a controlled shutdown. As if you went to the shutdown menu and click on shutdown. I don't know if this is related, but I noticed, suspend and hibernate are gone from the shutdown menu with the latest gnome-power-manager.

After Monday's round of updates, the shutdown menu shows suspend and hibernate now. The power button still halts my laptop. Not sure what packaged fixed the suspend and hibernate options, but they are back.

My laptop boots without g-p-m, don't know why. If then I go to the shutdown menu, I can't see suspend and hibernate options.

However, if then I run g-p-m, I see again the suspend and hibernate options.

So the problem for me is that g-p-m doesn't starts when booting.

Ok, so now that the suspend and hibernating buttons are back, anyone got anything on why the shutdown menu isn't brought up when the power button is pressed and the action is set to "ask me" in the gnome-power-manager?

I don't know if this is related to this bug, but I think it is, so I post it here.

Each time I close my laptop's lid, when I open it, I see an apport window saying "g-p-m crashed unexpectedly".

I attach the crash report from /var, because I've tried to do it with "Report a problem" but It doesn't open any tab in firefox (I'll take a look at this tonight).

That crash you are talking about, only happend to me, after yesterday's updates, the same that fixed the buttons.
So I guess its related.
