Bug Description

Binary package hint: libc6

The package vpnc (I use to connect in the wlan of university of Freiburg, Germany) was working fine with dapper! After the upgrade to edgy it stopped!

I installed manually the packages ( downloaded from http://packages.ubuntu.com/edgy/net/vpnc ) and found saw that the package libc6 was degraded

from 2.4-1ubuntu12.3 (from the upgrade repositories)

to 2.4-1ubuntu12 (the older version!)

Still,

I have to type-in manually the nameserver (in the file "/etc/resolv.conf").

Sorry for my mistyping(!).

After installing the older libc6 package and editing the resolv.conf file (adding the correct nameserver) the vpnc works just fine!

The official vpnclient from cisco (vpnclient-linux-x86_64-4.8.00.0490-k9.tar.gz) does not work... (!) allthough the compilation (with the kernel version: 2.6.17-10-generic) ends-up with no error messages.

Hi! Do you have an error message with the failure that we can look at?

Hi!

There is no really a failure message...

I am not an expert but I visited the guy (responsible for th VPN in the
university and he found out... ) that with the vpnclient (cisco) the
system does not react at all (when trying to do "sudo vpnclient
connect ... (the respective profile) ).

I managed to install manually the vpnc (as I described) and it worked.

After doing sudo apt-get update & sudo apt-get upgrade... the vpnc did
not work any more.

It just hungs there...

How can I help? Where should I look for log's or similar?

Greetings,

Nikos.

please could you recheck with the current development version (feisty), maybe using a live-CD?
