Bug Description

Using Unity 2D and notify-osd 0.9.31-0ubuntu1, I find the notification bubbles to be way too opaque with the mouse pointer right over it. It's almost impossible to read or write anything below the blurred bubble.

Screenshot attached.

I believe thats a metacity compositor draw back and less of a notify-osd bug. (in unity-2d session partial compositing of metacity is enabled)

Hm, so it can make the bubble transparent, but only a little bit? Sounds too weird to be true. :-)

I can't see a reason why it should be different under metacity. What I'm very sure of is that you have not moved the mouse all the way over the bubble, thus the proximity-fade feature didn't turn down the opacity fully yet.

See the two screenshots I made while running metacity. Against bright and dark windows I can read what's behind the faded bubble very easily... when I have moved the mouse completely over the bubble.

Marking it as invalid.

Ok, so the problem here seems to be that the proximity-based fading fails.

As I move my mouse pointer towards the bubble (no matter from which side), the bubble first fades away but then fades in again as I move the pointer closer to its center.

I've done a little more testing with a A3 live USB system:

Notebook:
* Intel HD graphics 2000: affected.
* NVIDIA NVS 3100M (nouveau): affected.
* NVIDIA NVS 3100M (nvidia-current): affected.

PC:

Good news, I'm no longer seeing this in up-to-date (almost beta-1) Oneiric.
