i can confirm that bug...though it has little to do with beryl because I get that error with all python-gtk apps. This is in feisty.

Not a pygtk bug, either your python installation is broken, or you play with the PYTHONPATH or something similar or that's a beryl-settings bug

I'm marking this as rejected due to svn packages. I advise you to ensure you have up to date libberylsettings installed and also that you use stable packages in future.

I'm not convinced that its a beryl svn bug. I get the same error with other python gtk packages like straw rss reader. I havent changed the path or anything else.

Here is a temporary fix I posted on a duplicate bug:

I have the same problem. My friend suggested that the error might be because of the differences in python-gtk and python packages because python-gtk is version 2.4 while python is version 2.5. So, I tried to relink /usr/bin/python back to /usr/bin/python2.4 and that solved the problem. You will need to change this back to /usr/bin/python2.5 when python-gtk 2.5 is released.

sudo cp /var/lib/python-support/python2.4/beryl* /var/lib/python-support/python2.5/

This worked for me.
