Small update from #kubuntu : mysql-server-core-5.1 is required by Akonadi, which is required by KDE.
Okay, but some of us prefer to use percona-server/client-5.5 (or 5.1) instead of oracle's mysql.

This wouldn't seem to be a bug with mysql, rather the packages which depend on mysql.

akonadi etc need to depend on (for example) mysql-server | percona-server, which would not remove akonadi if the other depends is satisfied. Marking Invalid.

Thanks.

Changed in mysql-5.1 (Ubuntu):
importance: Undecided → Low
status: New → Invalid
