Bug Description

After I did a standard install of Feisty herd-3 on my Dell Dimension 9150 my sound stopped working, even though it had worked on the live cd. The sound card is an Intel card:

Same problem here. HP Compaq D530. Same sound chipset as Almanido by the looks of it. System is a dual boot with PCLinuxOS and sound is working fine under it. Initial install was Herd 2; now on Herd 3; no sound under either.

Please report actual bugs in the software as real bugs under the appropriate distro, for ubuntu this is at: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bugs

The ISO tracking product should only be used for reporting on test results of the ISO images as such, with links to the real bugs found during testing. See: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/ReportingResults

(I'e now moved this bug over to the regular ubuntu bug tracker)

Output is below as requested, but it is probably not of much use because this is from a fresh Herd 3 install and the sound is now working fine. I don't know if it is relevant or not, but I had a similar problem on the exact same hardware using Ubuntu 6.10 -- could not figure out the sound problem for the life of me. Stumbled across an ubuntuforums post that directed me towards alsamixer. Despite the fact that it was a fresh install and I had not changed any of the channel levels, it appeared that some of the channels in alsamixer were labelled as "off". I turned them on and the sound returned. Quite sorry, but I can't recall which specific channels they were.

(Output below from Herd 3 installed from Live CD with functional sound.)
