Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

The latest Rhythmbox update made it possible for me to use my apple remote to control it. However, pressing the forward button continuously, or just pressing it often in a row, causes rhythmbox to segfault, leaving the following in the terminal:

** (rhythmbox:9312): CRITICAL **: Resources for ring buffer 0x89cae00 still acquired
Segmentation fault

This is on an iMac with a fully upgraded Feisty.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" <http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html>. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems. <http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures> Thanks!

Here's a more verbose report.

I launch gnome-terminal
I start rhythmbox from the command line
Immediately, I get the following message in the command line:
"Rhythmbox: could not connect to socket
Rhythmbox: Connection refused"

Then, I hit the play button on my apple remote
Since shuffle is on, a random song starts playing

Meanwhile, I have received a couple of messages in the terminal that all say:
"** (rhythmbox:13284): WARNING **: Size 5760 is not a multiple of unit size 5520"

Then I press >> on the apple remote

Another random song starts playing

Then I press >> for about 8 seconds

Rhythmbox closes, and I see this in the terminal:

Segmentation fault

Please let me know if you need any other information

Sorry for the noise; I should have tried this earlier: disabling the LIRC plugin solves this problem for me.

Previous reply was not the right one, your bug had a correct description, could you get a backtrace (http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash) for the crash though?

This time, Rhythmbox didn't crash, but it was completely unresponsive. Anyway, I hope the backtrace tells you something. Let me know if this is not the correct backtrace, I never produced such a thing before.

From the backtrace it did crash, gdb intercepted the crash. That's not a debug backtrace though. Could you get a new one with gstreamer0.10-plugins-base-dbg libglib2.0-0-dbg rhythmbox-dbg installed?

Does it happen also if you switch songs quickly from the keyboard? That might have nothing to do with the remote control
