I thought maybe changing the wallpaper or logging out and back in would provide a workaround, but it didn't. This issue occurs using any of the available wallpapers (including the Fabric one I chose to help make the problem stand out better).

I introduced that bug, but I guess an updated to light-themes should have fixed it! :-\ Let me look further

ok, I didn't introduce that, then. See comment #3

two duplicate bugs are not using unity 4.14.2 so this could be unrelated to unity as well.

I'm sorry, I might have given you a red herring with that commit. :-( Besides, I'm now not seeing the gap any longer.

Christopher Kyle Horton (christhehorton) wrote :

I agree with Hernando from #7 in that I don't see the gap anymore...somehow I managed to cripple my 11.10 VirtualBox install during a partial upgrade and the Natty host started freezing up completely after that, so I decided just to install the latest daily build of 11.10 alongside 11.04 on my desktop. But on this new install, after running updates, this issue is no longer present.

Seeing this right now, all oneiric updates applied. Regression?
