Entering password from lock screen hangs at 'checking password'

Bug Description

Started with when i updated to latest as of 7 hours ago (time is now 16:00pm (GMT+10))

When i lock the screen using the gnome screensaver tool or let the desktop goto screensaver.
I enter the current password and it sits on 'checking password' indefinitely

Machine does not lock, im still able to use the mouse or goto a virtual terminal

I can confirm this bug.... it just started happening in the last update or so..... after entering you password to enter synaptic and such the system hangs for quite a while before continuing on

i noticed this as well after upgrading xubuntu 7.04 -> 7.10. i tried GNOME, and all was well... except it was GNOME. go back to my familiar XFCE, and the password dialog boxes take forever again!
