Bug Description

Binary package hint: gxine

In a previous session I had opened an .avi file from an external usb hard drive using gxine with plugins provided as ubuntu packages. It worked fine.

After reboot, I reopened gxine and hit play but this time the external drive had already been ejected. Gxine attempted to open the previous file, saying "opening...".

It just seemed frozen for a few seconds so I clicked the stop button. This didn't seem to do anything but a couple of seconds later, gxine disappeared and then a window asking for a crash report appeared. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Looks like a GTK crash to me. gxine should have reported "file not found" (or "unknown error", given that you're using 0.5.7).

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 alpha?
