p4-clockmod doesn't get automatically loaded on Acer TM2413

Bug Description

My laptop (Acer TravelMate 2413) supports CPU frequency scaling thru p4-clockmod kernel module, but Ubuntu does not load it automatically.

Both edgy and feisty.
By the way, is there a clickable way to choose a frequency governor? It's a bit not-user-friendly to choose it from the console, and it doesn't automatically go 'performance' on AC power and 'ondemand' on battery.

p4-clockmod introduces unacceptable degrees of latency under normal desktop conditions, and adds little power saving since it has no ability to alter voltage. As a result, we deliberately don't autoload it.
