Bug Description

Whenever i install the ATI drivers the video playback via the official drivers provided by ati, and the video playback is just fine without using the drivers, any clue what is causing this besides having to switch from the gstreamer backend.

Ubuntu Version: 6.06
Kernel: irrevelent.
Driver Version: any

steps to reproduce...
step 1) play a video with Totem ( Movie Player ) ( normal baseline, usually correct ) ( Vesa driver used )
step 2) install ATI drivers from ati.amd.com
step 3) play a video with Totem, again. ( this will be discolored )

Thanks for your bug report.

Can you describe the discolouration? Have you tried various video formats?

This happens to me as well, ATI X1400 on a Lenovo T60 with Feisty. The best way to describe it would be that the hue is off and the images look very blue. This happens with XVID and mpeg (Basically all the formats I have available.)

What information can I provide that would be helpful?

Thanks!

Darren albers said it best, that's almost exactly how it acts... i tried to switch it but that don't help, the only thing i could figure is i had to tinker with my video settings with aticonfig, and i haven't been able to figure out how to fix it though, except for chaning the engine to xine, but i prefer the gstreamer system.

looks like a fglrx driver bug, you are using the upstream one, not the Ubuntu version, not a bug for launchpad then

i found a fix for this, and it is to run the following command:

gstreamer-properties

and with the dialog it brings up change the Default video output plugin to:

X Window System (No XV)
