Bug Description

Binary package hint: kernel-image-2.6-amd64-generic

When using the ipw2200 card, the computer will hang after some time. The time may be a few minutes or 30 hours, but it hangs before two days have passed.

If I don't use that interface (but insert an external adapter and use that) I can keep the machine on for weeks.

I don't know how to debug this myself, as I don't have a serial connection and it's impossible to predict the crash.

Sorry, I meant to open this in linux-image as it happens with recent kernels.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include enough information.

Please include the following additional information, if you have not already done so (please pay attention to lspci's additional options), as required by the Ubuntu Kernel Team:
1. Please include the output of the command "uname -a" in your next response. It should be one, long line of text which includes the exact kernel version you're running, as well as the CPU architecture.
2. Please run the command "dmesg > dmesg.log" and attach the resulting file "dmesg.log" to this bug report.
3. Please run the command "lspci -vvnn > lspci-vvnn.log" and attach the resulting file "lspci-vvnn.log" to this bug report.

For your reference, the full description of procedures for kernel-related bug reports is available here: <http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelProblems> Thanks!

I don't get any dmesg output. The machine hangs and needs a hard reboot.

lspci output attached.

This should probably get moved to the newer kernel-image package. The problem has existed for several kernel releases.

Hi,

I have the same problem with my Thinkpad R31 and a Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Mini-PCI-Card. After some time the machine hangs and i have to power off the notebook.
