Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

Version 2.0.0.1 running under Ubuntu Edgy 6.10 (i386) on an Intel dual-Core system.

Page being viewed was http://slashdot.org/
Page being opened was http://www.thestar.com/sciencetech/article/183137

A further open tab was http://www.stuff.co.nz/

The Firefox window suddenly vanished. No premonitory signs.

My automated bug reporting system is asking me to attach /var/crash/_usr_lib_firefox_firefox-bin.1000.crash

Thank you for taking the time to file this bug report. Unfortunately I am unable to reproduce this bug and there is not enough information to fix it. Could you attach the crash log?

Are you able to reproduce it consistently?

Try with a new profile and other suggestions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs

Michael, I've tried twice to submit the crash log, but each time I end
up with a 500 Internal Server Error on the launchpad Web site.

I'm happy to e-mail you the log, but are you able to receive a 20 MB
e-mail?

I have not been able to reproduce the crash, and at least two of the Web
pages that I had within Firefox tabs at the time of the crash have now
changed.

Happens quite regularly - may be a resources issue.
This machine is a Compaq Evo Tower - complete specs for 510c:

Performance is decent, although a little boggy since this is not really a 3D accelerated graphic chipset. Potential problem there?

Attached is the report file generated by the crash. I notice many others do not bother to include this - I hope it helps.

Also, why would your performance be affected by accelerated graphics? Do you have xgl/aiglx or beyl/compiz on your computer?

Thanks for the follow-up.
It has not reoccurred for quite some time, so I would venture that a patch
somewhere along the line addressed this. Whether it was a patch to Beryl or
Firefox I cannot be sure.
Thanks again,
Bryan

John, the problem has not recurred here at all recently. It is no
longer an issue as far as I am concerned.
