Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-generic

After installation with the alternative amd64 herd4 cdrom, the default kernel will attempt to load but then the monitor just turns off and the keyboard's lights flash. I can get into the system by loading the recovery console, and typing exit when the root user loads.

That's the only hardware that I can think of that could be causing this. If you need more information please ask.

Thanks for your bug report. To better help us troubleshoot this issue could you please post the full output of 'lspci -vvnn', '/boot/grub/menu.lst' and '/etc/fstab' as attachments to your bug report? Thanks in advance.

I would add me grub menu list but I've changed it since then. I compiled my own kernel and I was still getting the same error so I removed the quiet option from menu.lst and now it's working fine.

I'd say this is a case of missing UUID option for ide->ata transition.
